Panasonic Voice Mail KX-TA 624/824 program settings

Voice Mail can only be connected to ports 7& 8 or ports 15 & 16  If using 15 & 16, you must use the 3 X 8 Expansion Card not the 0x8

  1. Program 998.  Make sure Y581A or higher (not necessary on an 824)
  2. Program 130, to enable jacks 7 and 8 or Program 131 to enable jacks 15 & 16.  These programs (130 or 131) automatically set EXG, Hunt Group, Hunting Type, and Voice Mail Port.  Jacks are automatically set for Data Line Security
  3. Set time on 624/824 system, see below
  4. Program 009. set extension numbers as 165 and 166 (Optional but recommended, you can leave as 107/108 or 115/116)
  5. Restrict voice mail port 7 & 8 or 13 & 16, see below
  6. Connect to appropriate jacks, using 4-wire cord.
  7. Set CO lines to NORMAL (Programs 414, 415, 416).  If you set a line as DIL it will go directly to voice mail and not ring at any other station (you may want this at night).
  8. Set Ringing (Programs 408, 409, 410)
  9. Set Delayed ringing to give the user time to answer the call before the VPS connects. (Programs 411, 412, 413)
  10. Turn off the KX-TA 624, connect the VM and set it up.

 

Time Set   KX-TA 624/824

You must be on the main phone on jack 01 to set time.  You can determine if your phone is jack 01 by setting the switch on the end of a display phone to PROGRAM and then pushing the number 6 on the dial pad.  The phone will read the jack and extension number.  When you have determined the jack 01 phone, do the following:

  1. Set switch on end of phone to "PROGRAM" (or push PROGRAM key if you have one)

  2. Dial "0"     Enter year (last 2 digits)    Enter month (01-12)    Enter day (01-31)
  3. Enter day of week (Sun 0, Mon 1, Tue 2, Wed 3, Thu 4, Fri 5, Sat 6.)
  4. Enter Hour (01-12)    Enter Minute (00-59)    Press 0 for AM 1 for PM
  5. Press "AUTO DIAL/STORE" key   Return phone switch to "SET" (or push PROGRAM)

 

Toll Restriction  KX-TA 624/824

Sample toll restriction set up to protect voice mail from hackers when installing voice mail on a KX-TA 624 or 824.  We are assuming there is no other toll restriction on the system. 

  • Program 305: Restrict 0 plus and 1 plus
  • Program 306: Program exceptions to the restrictions entered in 305.  In our area we usually enter 1800, 1888, 1877, 1866,1855 and nearby area codes such as 1619, 1760, 1858.
  • Program 601, 602, 603:  In each of these programs, enter the voice mail ports (either 7 and 8 or 15 and 16)
