Message Waiting How do I use the Message Waiting Light? |
Allows you to alert other stations you have a message for them. If
they have a multi-line phone with a message waiting lamp, it will be
lit. If they do not have a message waiting lamp they will hear stutter
dial tone. Also used to alert you that there are messages in your
voice mail box.
TO SET: Press Intercom. Call another extension When you receive busy tone or no answer, press the MESSAGE key. You will hear confirmation tone, hang up. Message light on other phone is now lit or they hear stutter dial tone.
TO ANSWER: When your MWL (Message Waiting Light) is on, press INTERCOM and MESSAGE. The system will call the station that lit your light. That station could be another person or the voice mail system or both. So if you check your voice mail messages and the light stays on, more than likely another person turned your MWL on. Press INTERCOM and MESSAGE again. When (and if) they answer, the message waiting light is cleared.
If they do not answer, the light is NOT cleared. To the system, you have
not received the message until you talk with the person, thus the light stays
on. If they do answer, and the light remains on, someone else has left
you a message waiting light. Repeat the above procedure or use the clear
feature below.
Voice mail users. If you listen to your messages and the light stays on,
usually someone has inadvertently lit your light. You can use the above
procedure to clear the lamp or the use the feature listed below.
